UC San Diego officials brought out the champagne and ceremonial shovels Monday for a groundbreaking on the $664 million Jacobs Medical Center, but they really were celebrating something far bigger than the start of construction on a 10-story building.

University officials said they’re taking the next step on the way to their goal of being a world-class academic medical institution combining research, a school of medicine and advanced clinical care. Continue reading

Merit Award for Architecture: Cedars-Sinai Medical Center Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion

The Advanced Health Sciences Pavilion was a recipient of the AIA California Council Merit Award for Architecture in 2013.

Anticipating LEED® Gold certification, this new building houses Cedars-Sinai’s Neuroscience and Heart Institutes, two of the west coast’s largest and most advanced diagnostic, translational research and treatment “centers of excellence.””
